Parasite

This image series is created to visualise the presence of parasites in the body and in nature. Due to their microscopic size, parasites and bacteria are often overlooked or understood as a kind of “invisible threat.” As with other things we do not fully understand, we minimise their power. With the rise of “smart” viruses, and an ongoing pandemicine, there is no better time to reinvestigate what we think we know about these organisms. Whether it is the individual organism or the collective, the parasite (s) communicate and organise for the sake of interspecies dominance. Many of them predate the existence of humankind. In this, they share a belonging with Mother Earth and the cosmos. As an artist with Lyme disease, I investigate terrain vs the body through paint and photography.
